About the Project
This modern farm house, set amongst the apple orchards on a working fruit farm was designed for a bachelor with the possibility of extending into a family home over time.
The design references the simple barn structures of the Cape vernacular and boasts uninterrupted views across the large farm dam.
The house allows for easy open-plan living with a large open plan living space in one of the barns and sleeping, bathing and dressing in the other. An external courtyard connecting the house to the large garage/workshop was an important aspect of the design which provides a comfortable working yard for large vehicles and boats.
